| Structural Engineers Reports
Structural Engineers
Reports are based upon a visual inspection and assessment of all
accessible parts of the building structure, including:
 |
Evidence of
movement, such as cracking, distorted door/window frames,
bulging/leaning walls or sloping floors, which might
indicate subsidence or other structural problems.
|
 |
Desktop review
of British Geological Survey maps, to assess likely ground
conditions and the influence of any nearby trees. |
 |
Nature
and adequacy of wall construction, without recourse to
opening up. |
 |
Structural
alterations, such as removal of load bearing walls or
chimney breasts. |
 |
Adequacy and
stability of roof structure. External examination is from
ground level, aided by binoculars. Roof voids are inspected,
where safe access will allow. |
Structural
Engineers Reports exclude non-structural items such as the roof
coverings, finishes and decorations, unless there are signs of
damage or disruption of structural significance. An assessment of
dampness, timber infestation and the services are also excluded. We
can, by prior arrangement and for an additional fee, extend the
scope of the Structural Engineers Report, to include a visual
appraisal of these aspects and provide a more comprehensive
Building
Survey Report.
We also prepare
specialist reports for insurance purposes, in connection with
subsidence, fire, flooding or impact damage. |
